TORONTO – Five things to watch in the Canadian business world in the coming week:
Economic data
On Monday, Statistics Canada will release its national balance sheet and financial flow account figures, which include a reading of household debt, for the second quarter. The agency will also release its monthly manufacturing survey for July on Wednesday and wholesale trade figures for the month on Friday.
Root results
Retailer Roots Corp. will release its second-quarter results on Tuesday. The company announced the reintroduction of the Beaver Canoe brand earlier this year to celebrate its 40th anniversary.
BRP Results
BRP Inc. will release its second quarter results on Wednesday and hold a conference call with financial analysts. The Ski-Doo and Sea-Doo maker suffered a cyberattack last month that forced it to temporarily suspend operations.
door-to-door sales
The Canadian Real Estate Association is expected to release August sales figures on Thursday. Sales in July fell 5.3% from June due to the slowdown in the housing market.
Empire Results
Empire Co.Ltd. will publish its first quarter results and hold its annual meeting on Thursday. The company became co-owner of the Scene Plus program operated by Cineplex Inc. and Scotiabank earlier this year.
