A New Brunswick company at the forefront of the province’s agriculture industry has just closed a $300,000 pre-seed investment round. Like Tyler McLean reports for Huddlethe money will help Staking systems deploy its instant plant nutrient sampling technology in the potato industry in Atlantic Canada.

Plant nutrient analysis alone is a process that can usually take weeks. But Picketa founder and CEO Xavier Hébert-Couturier says the company is showing how growers and agricultural service providers can take advantage of real-time Picketa plant tissue analysis.

“We are developing real-time plant tissue analysis to be able to instantly tell farmers what nutrient concentrations are in their plants and what to buy,” Hébert-Couturier told Huddle.

Hébert-Couturier, with co-founders Maxime Dumont, Dominic Levesque and Zachary Anderson, developed Picketa Systems from a business plan that assured them jackpot in the undergraduate category of the 2021 Apex Business Plan Competition.
