So what’s so special about this resort?

According to Michael Henderson, one of the Canadian co-founders, the resort will be a contemporary, luxurious and technology-driven destination.

It aims to showcase a “vast range of components that will integrate to deliver an endless journey of discovery”.

This includes an iconic attraction that lets guests feel like they’re walking on the lunar surface and exploring a lunar colony.

The company also hopes the station can serve as an “authentic training platform” for space agencies and their astronauts in the future.

Other features to be expected in this billion dollar project? Hotel suites, spa, nightclub, event center, “global meeting place” and lounge.

MWR said it will license four Moon Destination Resorts globally – one in North America, Europe, MENA and Asia.

Potential regional licensees will likely be global hospitality, entertainment or technology companies that can fund and operate the $5 billion project.

This project is credited to Canadian entrepreneurs Michael Henderson and Sandra Matthews, who together founded Moon World Resorts.

“As Musk, Bezos and Branson brilliantly seek the next frontier; Moon will provide a dynamic and authentic experience on planet Earth; accessible to all, not just the few,” they said in a statement to Narcity.

However, you may not want to hold your breath as it can take a long time before the project is complete.

According The Nationalonce a license has been approved, it will take another five years before the station is ready to welcome guests.

Until then, potential guests will have to wish a star everything they dream of – and maybe more.
